Popular Panto, Aladdin returns to The Exchange 1856 this December in honour of much-loved Northeast actor, producer and writer, Dale Meeks, who died aged just 48 earlier this year.
The script for Mendes Management production, Aladdin, was written by Dale and originally performed in 2017 to a phenomenal audience response.
This updated version will see Aladdin joined by a whole host of hilarious and colourful characters on an enchanted journey of magic and mysticism. Audiences will marvel at the adventures of a young lad from the far East... of Newcastle as he overcomes the odds stacked against him. It’s a swashbuckling nonstop thrill-ride of a show for all the family.
Danielle from Mendes Management explains: “Dale was a lifelong friend, not only to me, but to many of the cast. We first performed this show in 2017 and the audience response was amazing. Dale agreed earlier in the year that we would go back to where we started and update the script for Aladdin, as it was one of his favourite Pantos. In honour of him, we will continue to produce his hilarious scripts and close friend, Craig Richardson, will carry the mantle and direct this year’s production’’.
Danielle created Mendes Management in 2017 and knows what she’s talking about. She has been in the performing arts industry all her life, training with Peter Kay and his Car Share co-star Sian Gibson at Salford College. Danielle’s goal is to make Panto affordable for all and has established relationships with schools throughout the Northeast, with most attending the show every year.
Danielle continues: ‘We have a cast who are well known to our audiences and the schools we work with look forward to their annual trip to our Panto. Our wider reputation is growing and we are delighted to see our public performances proving increasingly popular. We’re urging anyone who hasn’t seen our Panto before to come to The Exchange 1856 this December and find out what they’ve been missing out on.”
