'Oh yes it is' - popular panto returns for next two years

The Exchange 1856 has signed a deal with production company Mendes Management to bring affordable pantomime to North East children for the next two years.

The deal follows hot on the heels of last year’s successful pantomime Aladdin, which entertained more than five thousand kids during its two-week run at The Exchange 1856 last December

Both organisations are committed to bringing cultural experiences to local people. The Exchange 1856 recently completed an extensive seven-figure renovation to create a cultural hub for the local community at the heart of North Shields Cultural Quarter. While Mendes Management specialises in working with local schools offering reduced rate pantomime tickets to help schoolchildren experience live theatre – some for the very first time.

Popular panto, Cinderella has been confirmed for December 2024 with discussions underway regarding the 2025 panto.

Stuart Egan, MD of The Exchange 1856, said: “Watching a live pantomime performance at Christmastime is something every child should have the chance to experience. But unfortunately, the increasing cost of living means some families simply can’t afford this unforgettable experience for their children.

“We are delighted to sign this agreement with Mendes Managements offering affordable panto in a beautiful venue for the next two years. The company is one of the region’s most well-known producers of pantomime and has a long-standing relationship with schools across North Tyneside offering reduced price tickets which make a panto trip much more feasible.”

As well as school-specific performances, there will be several affordable public performances on offer.

Director and Producer of Mendes Management, Danielle Mendes said: “The Exchange 1856 has undergone an amazing upgrade, and it is a beautiful space. We are passionate about making sure every child gets the chance to enjoy the magic of live theatre and it’s great to now offer that assurance to North East families. They will be able to come and see the best panto in the region for an affordable price in one of the area’s best venues.”

General public tickets prices for the panto start from just £16.75. To find out more or to book tickets for school productions of Cinderella, please
