Stuart Egan, Managing Director at The Exchange 1856, said: “Brown’s at The Exchange will be temporarily closed for a short period while renovations take place to upgrade the venue and substantially improve the food and drink offering for our customers.
“Given the level of construction taking place, closing Brown’s was really the only option available to us and we apologise to customers for the inconvenience.
“The refurbishment of Brown’s is an exciting step forward for The Exchange 1856. As well as the addition of a brand-new commercial kitchen, upgraded seating and new bar area, the entire space is being extensively refurbished to create a relaxed and unpretentious space where local people can enjoy an exciting menu of high quality, locally sourced food and a wide selection of beers and wines.
“These changes are part of a wider seven-figure renovation project for The Exchange 1856, which will see every area of this historic building improved and transformed into a cultural hub for North Shields.
“Thank you to the local community, our partners, and our stakeholders for your patience during this period of construction and change. The finished project will be well worth the wait.”
